What was He Thinking?

I was doing a little folder clean up and this teaching was found in one of my old notebooks. It basically was still in note format never making it to a completed thought. I gave it look over trying to make sense of the thoughts, ad God just began to place the pieces in order. Some old, mixed with the new.

It is from one of my favorite childhood Bible stories. What boy would not want to impress his friends with instead of just diving or jumping in the pool, instead you just walked across to the other side. We all know that it would be impossible given the laws of gravity and physics, but in the spiritual world, with the leading of the Holy Spirit, all things are possible.

I think it is way to easy for us to slip into the routine of Church, Christianity, the do’s and the don’ts, letting our spiritual life slip into a checklist approach to God. God is Spirit, and we must worship Him in Spirit and truth. When you begin to look past the walking on the water part of the story, and begin to dig a little deeper, this was all about the Spirit and what limitless things can be accomplished in our lives if we would just get outside our own carnal thinking.

We have the living Spirit of God inside of us, who is always prompting us to just trust Him. Let’s live like Peter lived, obedient to the Spirit’s call. As always, it is my prayer that this has challenged you to have a stronger open relationship with God.
