Some Good People will still go to Hell

This teaching came from concern over “Good” people possibly missing out on the goodness of God and sadly missing out on an eternity in Heaven. This topic was a tough one because the inspiration or possibly conviction came from observing one of my best friends. He would give you the shirt off of his back, well-liked, well-loved, great reputation in the school system and community. Great coach, great mentor, beautiful wife, and children, but….was religious at best!!

This also came from growing up in the church my entire life, and the observations that I made and observed. I know we are not to have our eyes on any other one than Jesus, but other’s actions sometimes pull our focus away. Yes, I know, I am the only one that has ever struggled with such a thing. And sadly, the observations that I observed in my walk with God.

Falsities, compromises, and outright rebellion can be for many just a breath, an action a thought away. The Christian walk is so much more than a profession of faith, it is a life of submission, humility, unselfishness…all things that our natural man fights against, even after salvation comes to us. Pure and relentless study of the Word, times in prayer, allowing the Holy Spirit to convict, sanctify, and purify is the only way to ensure through grace this eternal life with God.

In today’s church, these things can often seem foreign, distant, even nonexistent, lost in the programs, activities, and all the other “good stuff.” It has the power to take “good people” with it, to delude, rearrange and even create a false religion. Members can unknowingly be swept up and swept away, others knowingly help facilitate this falling away. In the end, we all stand responsible for our actions and choices. Be found acceptable when you stand before God.

Tim. 2:15. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

As always, it is my prayer that this has challenged you to have a stronger open relationship with God.
