A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste!!

A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste — you know the phrase, you have heard it. That is because the iconic slogan, dreamt up by the advertising agency Young & Rubicam, launched in 1972 to encourage Americans to support the United Negro College Fund. The slogan has remained unchanged for more than three plus decades and has become part of the American vernacular.

This ad has been running through my mind repeatedly over the last several weeks, which is usually about the time that it takes me to realize that God maybe trying to speak something to me. I hope that I am not the only one that experiences that human deficiency. As I have experienced, learning about God, walking out the scriptures in your life, and going through some of the repeated struggles that we have teach us the very nature of Christ. Our imperfections, our flawed conclusions, and judgments, only magnify the need for a savior.

Having the mind of Christ carries even more significance, especially to those that we meet. We should sound different, we should act different, and most definitely think differently than the world. If we do not, then that begs us to ask why?? Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

As we do think more like Jesus, our behavior will reflect it. In other words, we will change. It is not enough to think alone; we must put these things into practice. Our thinking will produce results. Do not waste the mind that Christ has given you.
